For more information about Webalizer, visit the Webalizer website. To view all of the possible configuration options for Webalizer, read Webalizer’s Configuration Files documentation. Important: This interface only appears in your cPanel account if your hosting provider selects the Webalizer feature in WHM’s Feature Manager interface (WHM >> Home >> Packages >> Feature Manager). View your Webalizer statistics To view Webalizer statistics, click View for the domain that you wish to view. A new interface will appear and display a graph and a summary of the Webalizer traffic statistics for that domain. To view detailed monthly statistics, click that month’s link. A new interface will appear and display charts and tables with the following information: Daily and hourly statistics in graphs and tables. The links through which visitors access your website. HTTP codes. Operating systems. Browser information. Countries of origin. Note: Your hosting provider may allow you to view Webalizer statistics without the need to log in to cPanel. To do this, navigate to http://example.com/stats, where example.com represents your domain name, and log in with your unique Webalizer directory username and password. To use this functionality, your hosting provider must create the /home/username/public_html/webalizer/stats directory, where username represents your cPanel username. Then, they must create a unique username and password for this directory. MySQL® Database Wizard Overview This wizard guides you through the setup of a MySQL® database, user accounts, and user privileges. We recommend that you use this wizard to create your first database and user. To create additional databases or users, you can also use the MySQL Databases interface (cPanel >> Home >> Databases >> MySQL Databases). Set up a database To set up a database, perform the following steps: In the New Database text box, enter a name for the database and click Next Step. Note: The system limits the database name to 64 characters. However, due to the method that cPanel & WHM uses to store MySQL database names, each underscore character requires two characters of that limit. Therefore, if your hosting provider enabled database prefixing, the maximum length of the database name is 63 characters, which includes both the database prefix and the underscore character. Each additional underscore requires another two characters of that limit. In the Username text box, enter a name for the user who you wish to allow to manage the database. Important: To learn more about database username limits, click your database type: MySQL 5.6 and earlier MySQL 5.7 and later MariaDB Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes. Note: The system evaluates the password that you enter on a scale of 100 points. 0 indicates a weak password, while 100 indicates a very secure password. Some web hosts require a minimum password strength. A green password Strength meter indicates that the password is equal to or greater than the required password strength. Click Password Generator to generate a strong password. For more information, read our Password & Security documentation. Click Create User. Select the checkboxes that correspond to the privileges that you want to grant the user, or select ALL PRIVILEGES. For more information about user privileges, read the MySQL documentation. Click Next Step. The system displays a message that states that you successfully set up the database and user account. Additional options After you complete the database setup process, select one of the following options: Add another database — Click to return to the beginning of the MySQL Database Wizard interface to add more databases. Add another MySQL Databases User — Click to open the MySQL Databases interface (cPanel >> Home >> Databases >> MySQL Databases) to create additional user accounts and assign them to a database. Return to Home — Click to return to the cPanel Home interface. Note: When you use the MySQL Database Wizard interface to add a user and a database, the system automatically grants the user access to the database. You do not need to use the Add User to Database feature in the MySQL Databases interface (cPanel >> Home >> Databases >> MySQL Databases). Directory Privacy This interface allows you to protect specific directories in your cPanel account’s files. After you enable this feature for a directory, when users attempt to view that directory via a website, the system prompts them to log in. Note: This feature modifies htaccess and htpasswd configurations in order to restrict access to files on your websites. This feature does not protect directories that users access via FTP, SFTP, Web Disk, or other services, or when they access files locally. Select a directory To use this interface, select a directory to manage. To select a directory, click the desired directory’s name. To view and select subdirectories, click the parent directory’s name. Then, click the desired subdirectory name. To configure the security settings for a directory or subdirectory, click Edit under the Actions column. Note: A protected directory’s subdirectories inherit their parent directory’s password protection. The lock icon () indicates that Directory Privacy configurations already exist for that directory. Security Settings Important: You must perform these steps and click Save in order to enable this feature. To password protect the selected directory, perform the following steps: Select the Password protect this directory checkbox. Note: To remove password protection from a directory, deselect the Password protect this directory checkbox. Then, click Save. Enter a display label for the directory in the Enter a name for the protected directory text box. Note: This name only functions as a label for the directory. Do not confuse it with the directory’s actual name. Click Save. A confirmation message will appear. Click Go Back to return to the directory’s configuration. Important: After you complete this process, you must create a user that can access this directory. Create User Warning: To create a user for a directory, the directory must have correct directory permissions. If you cannot create a user, change the directory’s permissions to 0700 in cPanel’s File Manager interface (cPanel >> Home >> Files >> File Manager). To create an authorized user for the selected directory, perform the following steps: Enter the desired username in the Username text box. Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes. Click Save. A confirmation message will appear. Click Go Back to return to the directory’s configuration. Note: To change an existing user’s password, enter the user’s information and the new desired password. Then, click Save. Authorized Users The Authorized Users menu lists the directory’s existing authorized users. To delete a user, select that user and click Delete User. A confirmation message will appear. Click Go Back to return to the directory’s configuration. Create an Email Account Note: This interface is part of cPanel’s Email Accounts interface (cPanel >> Home >> Email >> Email Accounts). This interface lets you create a new email account. To create a new email account, click Create. A new interface will appear. It displays the account creation settings, as well as your account’s quota status. Create a new email account To create a new email account, perform the following steps: Enter a new email address in the Username text box. Important You cannot enter cpanel as an account name when you create an email account. You cannot rename an email account or change its address after you create it. However, you can use cPanel’s Forwarders interface (cPanel >> Home >> Email >> Forwarders) to create a new address that forwards all mail to the existing account. Use the Domain menu to select the domain on which you want to create the email account. Note: This setting only appears if you have more than one domain on your account. To see this menu, click Manage Subdomains or Manage Aliases to check your account’s domain configuration. A new interface will appear. You can find the links to these interfaces in the Missing a Domain? menu on the right side of the interface. In the Password section, perform one of the following actions: Select Set password now. Enter a secure password in the Password text box. A secure password does not contain a dictionary word. It must also contain uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. The system will evaluate the password that you enter on a scale of 100. A weak password has a 0 value, while a very secure password has a 100 value. You can also perform the following actions: Click the reveal icon () to display the entered password. Click Generate to let the system create a secure password for you. The system will reveal this password. Click the more icon () to select password complexity settings. The system will use these settings when it generates a new password. Note: Some hosting providers require a minimum password strength value. You must enter a password that meets this value. Select Send login link to alternate email address and enter an email address. The system will send a password creation link to this address. Note: This setting is available if your hosting provider has enabled it. Select the Stay on this page after I click Create checkbox to create another email account after you create this one. Click Create to create the account and return to the Email Accounts interface. You can click Go Back to cancel this action and return to the Email Accounts interface. Select Unlimited if you do not want to limit the account’s email quota size. In the Automatically Create Folders for Plus Addressing section, select one of the following settings: Automatically Create Folders — When you receive an email that uses plus addressing, the system will create a new folder. The server moves a message that uses plus addressing to a designated folder if the folder exists. For example, the system would place a message to user+plusaddress@example.com in the plusaddress folder. Do Not Automatically Create Folders. — When you receive an email that uses plus addressing, the system will not create a new folder. Instead, it delivers the message to the INBOX folder. Select the Send welcome email with instructions to set up a mail client checkbox to send the user mail client set up instructions. The user can access this message via Webmail. This message contains the mail client details and the .mobileconfig file for Apple® devices. Note: If you selected Send login link to alternate email, the system will not send a message. File and Directory Restoration for cPanel Overview The File and Directory Restoration interface allows you to restore items from local backup sources. You can enter a path or browse through files and directories to access backups. Note: This interface allows you to restore items from only local backup files. If you wish to restore items from remote backup files, you must transfer the desired remote backup files to the local server. This interface does not allow you to restore your account’s .cpanel and mail directories. To restore these directories, you must perform a full account backup restoration. The system will restore deleted files and will overwrite existing files. The File and Directory Restoration interface This interface contains two sections, Files and Directories and Backups. The Files and Directories section shows the files and directories that contain backups. The backups will appear in the Backups section. You can access backups from this interface in two ways. You can enter a direct path to the file or directory, or you can browse through files and directories to find the file that you wish to restore. Enter a direct path to restore a file or directory Note: Select Browse files and directories to view a directory’s contents. The system will not show a directory’s contents when you select Enter a path. You can restore a file or directory from a direct path through your cPanel account’s home directory. To do so, perform the following steps: In the Files and Directories section, select Enter a path. Enter the direct path to the file or directory in the text box. The text box’s path is the cPanel account user’s home directory path. For example, enter public_html in the text box for the direct path to the /home/user/public_html directory. In this directory path, user represents the cPanel account’s username. Click Show Backups to list the backups for that file or directory. The backups will appear in the Backups section of the interface. In the Backups section, choose the backup that you wish to restore and click Restore. The system will ask you to confirm the restoration. Click Restore to confirm. A success or failure message will appear. Browse your home directory to restore a file or directory You can browse through the home directory to find the file or directory that you wish to restore. To do so, perform the following steps: In the Files and Directories section, select Browse files and directories. The contents of the cPanel account user’s home directory will appear. To see a directory’s contents, click on the directory’s name. Click Show Backups to list the backups for that file or directory. The backups will appear in the Backups section of the interface.
